The Chartered Institute of Human Resource Management, Ghana, previously known as the Ghana Institute of Personnel Management, was established in 1978 as a professional body and registered with the number PB 15. The institute became dormant for some time before being rejuvenated in 1993. It was initially focused on the development of effective and sound personnel management and human resource development practices in Ghana. Over time, however, its objectives expanded to include establishing and maintaining a forum for HR professionals in the country, promoting continuing education in the industry, and setting professional standards for HR practice.
