Employment History

I have over 20 years work experience in HR Management. Engaged in providing HR Consultancy services since 2015,  in the following areas:

  • Recruitment,
  • Labour Law Compliance, Industrial Relations and Union negotiations
  • Performance Management
  • Training & Development
  • Rewards & Compensation

Clients include AGA Health Foundation (AGAHF), Obuasi, Bolloré Transport and Logistics Ghana Ltd., Tema; Zen Petroleum, Accra; Independent Oil & Tools, Takoradi; Carmeuse Limestone Products (GH) Ltd., Takoradi; Association International School, Accra; Zen Petroleum, Accra; Macmahon, Australia.

Held the position of Group HR & Administration Manager  from 2010 to 2015,  with Banlaw Africa International Ltd., a mining services company, and was responsible for  providing strategic HR Management in the 5 operating countries, namely, Ghana, Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, Liberia and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). I was directly responsible for expatriate affairs; the development of HR policies and procedures and implementation across the Group. Provided HRM training to the country HR Managers.

Worked for Newmont Ghana Gold Ltd., from 2006 to 2010, and was responsible for Support Services for Accra, Ahafo and Akyem Gold Projects. Responsible for  recruitment and management of staff; managed Facilities, Camp and Hospitality contract and prepared monthly reports on activities of the department.

Worked as HR & Administration Manager, Ikam Ltd, a private security printing company, from 2003 to 2006, with added responsibility for managing the implant office for the issuance of drivers license at the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority, Accra.

I have also held various positions such as Office Manager, Pan African Organisation for Sustainable Development, an international development-oriented NGO, (1998-2003), Data Processing Assistant  Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) of the United Nations, Regional Office for Africa, Accra (1991-1994); French Tutor, Labone Secondary School (1986-1988),

Notable Achievements

  1. As the Consultant leading redundancy negotiations with the General Transport, Petroleum and Chemical Workers Union, on behalf of clients, I was able to conclude the negotiations, including signing of MOU in record time: within 2 months and after 2 meetings in the case of Carmeuse Limestone Products (Gh) Ltd.; and within 3 months in the case of Independent Oil & Tools
  2. Successfully managed downsizing of staff, both nationals and expatriates from 1,000 to 400 employees across the Banlaw Group in 2013, following end of projects in Liberia, Côte d’Ivoire and the DRC without any incidents or penalties, because I ensured full compliance with labour laws. This is remarkable especially in the two francophone countries which had the highest numbers of affected staff and are known to have very stringent and complicated Labour laws governing employment termination.
  3. Developed and implemented HR policies and procedures across the Banlaw Group, thereby moving HR functionality from 2 to 5 on a scale of 1 to 10, within one year of my appointment, reference reports of the needs gap analysis conducted upon my appointment and one year after my appointment by an international HR Consultant, Mr. Ted Strickler.

As a member of the Planning Committee for Newmont’s Ahafo first gold pour in 2006, when I had been employed for barely 4 months, I arranged for and coordinated domestic charter flights for attendees from Accra to Ahafo. I also liaised with  Ghana Civil Aviation to grant landing right to a private aircraft carrying the delegation from Newmont Mining Corporation  Denver, Colorado. This earned mention at the ceremony during the acknowledgements.
